Automation in Testing Online Updates!

As our Automation in Testing course has grown in size, scope and maturity, so has our companion open source project Restful-booker-platform which is deployed on https://automationintesting.online/.

We’re pleased to announce that we have just released a new version which has seen the following features added for you to play with:

A new branded front page

You may notice that when you head to the home page for https://automationintesting.online/ you are presented with a different view to the original RBP. This is because RBP now has a new store front / home page that is made up from stored data such as rooms created and branding details. These control the header images, rooms available, contact form and map.

The admin panel still exists but now can be found at https://automationintesting.online/#/admin

A new Branding service

As part of the front page work, a new service has been created called Branding. Branding is responsible for storing contact details, header images, descriptions and map co-ordinates. It has it’s own section in the admin panel and updating the values will update details for the front page.

Improved UI for admin

We’ve also updated the UI to work with Bootstrap to help improve the look and feel of the site. It has simplified the layout of forms that now offer different input types for you to experiment with.

Search has been retired

The search feature of RBP was a legacy feature from when the RBP project was first started and only really half worked. To make space for the Branding service, we’ve retired the search service and it’s related features. Who knows, it may come back in the future.

So that’s all the new features. We hope that they prove useful to you in helping you improve your testing craft or experimenting with different test automation tools. If you find issues or have features you would like to request, then please add them to the RBP issue tracker. Happy testing!
